Ivor Wycherley

School Years : 1932-8

Ivor Wycherley as pupil Ivor as President

Ivor Wycherley wasn't quite a founder scholar - he entered our school in 1932 - but has been tireless in his support of the Old Lewesians. We are honoured to have him as our President.

Ivor left the school (if indeed one can ever consider him to have 'left' !) in 1938 and - apart from army service - has been working in the Lewes estate agency which bears his name ever since.

For some time we have been hoping for a 'proper' biography to add to these pages but for the time being will settle for these extracts from the local press :-

Press Interview Home Guard Picture Home Guard Text
* A correspondent has suggested that Ivor's unit was actually called the "16th (Lewes) Battalion, Sussex Home Guard" as the Sussex Yeomanry had been re-roled to Artillery.

Alas, Ivor is no longer with us. Please click here for the tribute made by John Davey at Ivor's funeral.
